About

Damon Leibert’s unique and energetic style of fiddle playing lies somewhere between the driving dance beat of Cape Breton, and the lyrical music of Ireland.  He has performed innumerable concerts and festivals across North America & Europe and has worked in various theater, film, and recording projects.  His playing has been heavily influenced by his parent’s involvement with traditional music & dance, living in Nova Scotia & Ireland, and a deep involvement within the Celtic music community.  He has been based in Boston since 1999 where he performs with a variety of diverse musical groups and produces recordings when not on the stage.  In 2012 he joined the national act, The Irish Comedy Tour where he suitably plays a Leprechaun.

Damon cites Jerry Holland, Johnny Cunningham, and his father as his biggest musical influences.

A much anticipated solo album that will not be completely traditional or instrumental is in the planning stages.

Some of the groups & artists he has performed with include:

The Johnny Come Latelies, Paddy Saul, Inchicore, dunn, Josh Lederman & The Cambridge-Somerville All Stars, Ronan Quinn, The Irish Comedy Tour, The McTeggarts
